We were thrilled to have Paddy Madden, from the Heritage in Schools Scheme, visit our school to teach us all about Irish hedgerows. He worked with all of the classes, sharing his extensive knowledge about our native plants, trees, birds, animals and insects that we can find in our native hedgerows. He talked about food chains and showed the children so many things he had made and collected from models of a hedgerow, insects to a wasps’ nest. Finally, he brought the children outside to show them how much biodiversity there is in our own school grounds.
