School Self- Evaluation (SSE)
School self-evaluation (SSE) is part of the on-going work of Kilcommon NS. We are committed to examining standards in our school and to improving both learning experiences for the children and teaching experiences for the staff. This formal process began in 2013 and to date we have focused on teaching and learning in the areas of literacy and numeracy.
Attached are two School Self-Evaluation (SSE) Reports, one for literacy and one for numeracy. Each report examines the chosen area of focus at a given moment in time. Surveys were completed as part of the process, by teachers, parents and pupils in both literacy and numeracy . The reports also note the school’s achievements in that area along with where the school community would like to improve. Each report has a three year focus for improvement plans. The reports also include a checklist of statutory obligations listed by the Department of education & Skills. Improvement plans are also attached.
In Spring 2018, we chose 2 further areas for improvement. Teacher planning across the curriculum and the teaching of Physical Education in Kilcommon NS.
